Villa d'Este Style is the annual gathering of the legendary Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS "Villa d'Este", in the hotel which gave its name to the model. The 2023 edition of the event saw the presence of five of the circa 20 known cars still existing, in the unique venue of the Grand Hotel on Lake Como.
This year the event was open also to other Alfa Romeo 6C model and a few beautiful cars showed up, giving a great overview of the rich production on the 6C chassis.
The five Villa d'Este were 915916, the grey car owned by the Hotel itself (body number 3555), 915884 (black, body number 3416), 915890 (bordeaux, body number 3432), 915899 (blue, body number 3540) and the rare versione with only one window per side, chassis 915892 (dark blue, body number 3534), one of the two surviving in this configuration.
The oldest car in the field was 6C 1750 GS 8513078, a car rebodied by Castagna around 1934.
Two cars were representative of the 6C 2300B, a Pescara Berlinetta (which chassis number is unknown to me [EDIT: it's 813915]) and the special racing car of Franco Cortese, chassis 815001, the first 6C 2300B Mille Miglia built rebodied in recent years back to it's first configuration.
Another racing "siluro" on chassis 915088 was present, with a body which is a modern reconstruction, with lines ispired by the 8C 2900.
Three Pinin Farina cabriolet were also present: a first series SS (blue, chassis 915591 from 1948), a second series SS (red, chassis 915744 from 1949), and a first series Sport (grey, chassis 915399 from 1948).
The only other SS was a coupe Touring on chassis 915586, an early car with "ponton" design, from February 1948.
Two "Freccia d'Oro" on chassis 915448 (green, a very early one from October 1947) and 916071 (black, from April 1948) were also present.
In the end, to ideally close the history of the model, a Pinin Farina 4-door sedan (917150 from May 1951) and a 2500 GT 2-door sedan (918031 from Januay 1952).
